Our Fall Festival is every year around Mid-September.
Each year, the Peotone Historical Society hosts the Old Mill Fall Festival at the Peotone Mill! Events include historical re-enactors, vendors, and a self-guided tour of the inside of the Mill. Each year we strive to create a family-friendly environment that is not only educational, but also fun! At this past year's festival (2023), we were visited by Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, who recreated the famous Gettysburg Address and were available for historical questions and discussion. We also hosted other historical actors, such as a Union soldier and his wife, A dulcimer player, shoemaker, blacksmith, silversmith, gun powder maker, wool spinner, and a Civil War surgeon. Craftsmen presented antique tools, exhibits, crafts, and invaluable historical information. For the kids we had an extra special guest, Scotch the horse. They had lots of fun petting and riding him. We also had a variety of vendors selling their hand-crafted items and homemade foods. On the left is a slideshow of this last year's festivities, which were supported by the Peotone Historical Society's bake sale, as well as our merchandise and weave basket sales. Stay tuned for updates on next year's date and events for the festival! |
